If the daily price of heating oil rises due to rising crude oil prices, the price you pay for heatimg oil is fixed, as long as you have not consumed your annual allotment of oil. After the contract expires, you roll over to a standard automatic oil delivery plan. At this point, you are billed the market rate for oil you consume. A prebuy contract cannot be canceled after it has been signed. They also offer a fixed rate plan. For the fixed-pay plan, enrollment begins on June 1 and lasts through October 31. You can sign up anytime between those dates. The program ends on May 30 of each year, or when all the gallons you commit to have been used. The price is locked in and will not change whether heating oil prices go up or down once the contract is signed.
